Then, I rub the saddle pad around the horses back and sides if the horse starts to move away from the pad I retreat in the opposite direction. The horse will become used to the idea that the saddle pad will not hurt gaining the trust of the horse. Next, I get the pad on the back of the horse using the approach/retreat method un til the horse does not flinch with the saddle pad. I tossing the saddle pad up on the horses back until he is not startled any more with the saddle pad. I continue with the Saddle pad for several days and training episodes.saddle stools
